IDEAL FOR
Targeting Expression Lines
Biomimetic peptides work with your skins natural biological function to relax the muscles creating the expression lines you wish to target.
It is recommended to apply in the evening before bed to allow for a calm expression, to help support the process without interruption.
There are various types of fine lines, and wrinkles that appear on the surface. Each type of wrinkle requires a different targeted focus, and approach.
Expression Lines or Dynamic Wrinkles
These lines are caused from various tightening of facial muscles as we express various emotions. The elevens that appear from concentration or frustration, the forehead lines that appear from surprise or conversation and of course the happiness lines that appear from smiles, or squinting.
Static Wrinkles
Due from collagen degradation and extrinsic factors such as UV exposure, nutrition, improper skincare, toxic ingredient overload etc. These lines continue to deepen without proper preventative steps, or care.
Wrinkle Folds
These lines become present when facial fat and skin structure begin to sag. Affected by simple shifts such as loss in facial muscle, sudden weight loss, inflammation, degradation of elastin, etc.
INGREDIENT INTELLIGENCE
VRAI IQ
Regarded as a "Universal Solvent" in the skincare world, water helps to dissolve water soluble active ingredients. As the only true "hydrator" for skin (vs moisturizing actives that draw moisture to the surface) water plays a key role in both the application experience, and results by allowing active ingredients to be more effective as they are able to be distributed more evenly, and penetrate deeper into the epidermal layers.
WITHOUT EXCEPTIONS INGREDIENT
Used to provde smooth application of product and helps to lock in moisture and provide skin hydration when used topically. Also known to enhance skin texture, and soothe irritated skin. DERIVED FROM either animal, or plant fats unless stated from vegetable.
WITHOUT EXCEPTIONS INGREDIENT
Propanediol is a multitasking humectant, emollient, and solvent used in cosmetic formulations to boost hydration, improve product texture, and enhance the absorption of key active ingredients into the skin. It works harmoniously with the skin’s natural moisture barrier, providing a smooth, non-sticky finish and a lightweight slip that makes serums and creams with a preferred application experience. Propanediol acts as an effective booster for preservatives, allowing for lower concentrations of conventional preserving agents while still maintaining formula stability and safety. Because of its exceptionally low irritation profile, it is highly tolerated by all skin types, including sensitive and acne-prone skin. DERIVED FROM: either an ultra refined petroleum-based synthesis process or via the bacterial fermentation of plant-derived sugars and glycerin.
WITHOUT EXCEPTIONS INGREDIENT
VRAI IQ: Propanediol is widely used across both conventional and clean beauty lines as a high-performance alternative to traditional propylene glycol due to its superior sensory profile and lower risk of skin irritation. The Cosmetic Ingredient Review (CIR) panel and global regulatory bodies have evaluated propanediol extensively and confirmed it is completely safe and non-toxic for cosmetic use. The concern with petroleum based / fossil fuel ingredients is risk of 1,4 Dioxane contamination. Propanediol is a simple, standalone 3-carbon glycol molecule ($C_3H_8O_2$). Whether it is made through petroleum synthesis or bio-fermentation, it never undergoes ethoxylation. Because ethylene oxide is not used anywhere in its lifecycle, it is chemically impossible for 1,4-dioxane to form as a byproduct.
Also known in technical contexts as carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC), is widely used in skincare, personal care, and cosmetic formulations as a highly effective film-forming agent, emulsion stabilizer, and viscosity-controlling thickener. In water-based serums and creams, it creates a smooth, uniform gel matrix that prevents phase separation, ensuring that botanical extracts and active ingredients remain evenly suspended throughout the product's shelf life. When applied to the skin, cellulose gum dries to form a lightweight, breathable, and flexible topical film that helps lock in moisture, provides a subtle tightening effect, and delivers a clean slip without leaving a tacky or heavy residue. Because it is chemically inert, hypoallergenic, and non-comedogenic, it is a stable and gentle ingredient suitable for products designed for sensitive facial skin, eye areas, and oral care formulations. DERIVED FROM: the structural cell walls of natural woody plants or cotton linters, which undergo a chemical modification process reacting the natural plant cellulose with chloroacetic acid in an alkaline medium.
WITHOUT EXCEPTIONS INGREDIENT
Because of its intense hydration properties and ability to draw moisture to the surface and retain moisture to cells, Hyaluronic Acid helps skin stretch and flex while reducing the visible appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. DERIVED FROM: biofermentation.
WITHOUT EXCEPTIONS INGREDIENT
A highly advanced, biomimetic (nature-identical) synthetic peptide used in premier level anti-aging skincare formulations as an instant topical wrinkle-relaxing and skin-smoothing agent. Marketed frequently as a clean, non-invasive alternative to injectable neurotoxins, this peptide mimics the precise mechanism of the venom from the marine cone snail (Conus consors). When applied topically, it functions as a highly specific sodium channel blocker, selectively intercepting the electrical signals that tell facial muscles to contract. By micro-relaxing these sub-cutaneous muscle movements, it dynamically softens expression lines, and prevents further deepening. Despite its intensive neuromodulatory activity on the surface layer of the skin, the peptide has a high molecular weight that restricts its action purely to the localized epidermal application site, ensuring that it remains safe, non-irritating, and free from systemic absorption.
DERIVED FROM: laboratory synthesis via solid-phase peptide synthesis (SPPS), structurally modeled after a natural sequence found in marine cone snail venom.
WITHOUT EXCEPTIONS INGREDIENT
VRAI IQ: because it is modeled after a biological venom, this ingredient can trigger consumer hesitation if misconstrued.
s-Mu-Conotoxin CNIIIC represents the absolute pinnacle of "safe synthetics" and green biotech, perfectly bridging clinical efficacy with clean beauty boundaries. The "s-" prefix officially indicates that the molecule is synthetic, meaning that no actual marine snails are harmed, harvested, or touched to manufacture this ingredient. The "ingredient intelligent" reality check here involves addressing the word neurotoxin. In its native biological state inside a marine environment, conotoxin is a potent neurotoxin designed to paralyze prey. However, the cosmetic-grade, bio-engineered counterpart is tailored strictly to interact with specific voltage-gated sodium channels in facial muscle tissues. The Cosmetic Ingredient Review (CIR) and European safety standards validate its topical use as completely non-toxic and structurally incapable of reaching the central nervous system. Biomimetics offer undeniable anti-aging results without compromising safety. This peptide specifically, delivers professional-grade, measurable results at home as an effective alternative to more invasive injection treatments.
An advanced, high-performance synthetic peptide engineered for targeted anti-aging and expression-line smoothing in skincare. Functioning as a topical micro-relaxant, it acts as an elongation of the classic anti-wrinkle peptide, acetyl hexapeptide-8. It targets the same biochemical pathway as injectable neurotoxins by mimicking a crucial component of the SNAP-25 protein matrix. When applied to the skin, it competitively binds to the SNARE complex—the molecular machinery responsible for releasing neurotransmitters that trigger muscle contraction. By destabilizing this complex, it reduces the depth and intensity of dynamic facial expressions, providing a visible, preventative softening effect on expression lines, forehead furrows, and crow's feet. Highly stable and non-irritating, it offers a non-invasive topical pathway to keep the skin firm, plump, and deeply smooth.
DERIVED FROM: laboratory synthesis via solid-phase peptide synthesis (SPPS), where eight distinct amino acids are sequentially linked together and capped with an acetic acid group (acetylation).
WITHOUT EXCEPTIONS INGREDIENT.
VRAI IQ: Acetyl octapeptide-3 represents an excellent case study for a "safe synthetic." While entirely lab-born, it is constructed purely from amino acids—the natural building blocks of skin proteins. The intelligence of this ingredient lies in its relationship to the beauty industry's anti-aging standards. It is a modified, eight-amino-acid upgrade to the older six-amino-acid peptide technology (Argireline). Studies demonstrate that adding these extra amino acid links increases its efficiency at destabilizing the SNARE complex, allowing it to diminish wrinkle depth by up to 35% in clinical testing. The Cosmetic Ingredient Review (CIR) panel confirms its safety, and it carries a flawless profile with zero risk of systemic absorption or irritation. For VRAI, this peptide stands as a pure, scientifically validated asset that delivers exceptional corrective care while remaining fully aligned with elite safe beauty standards.
An alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) used in cosmetic formulations primarily as an exfoliant, skin-conditioning agent, and pH regulator. Because of its unique molecular structure, it works by gently breaking down the cellular bonds between dead skin cells on the epidermis, promoting cell turnover to reveal a brighter, smoother, and more even skin tone. Lactic acid possesses natural humectant property; it is a major component of the skin’s own Natural Moisturizing Factor (NMF), allowing it to hydrate the skin while it exfoliates. This dual action makes it effective at minimizing hyperpigmentation, smoothing fine lines, and clearing pore congestion without causing excessive dryness or irritation. In broader formulation chemistry, it is also utilized in microscopic amounts to balance product pH, ensuring the final serum or cream remains stable and compatible with the skin’s natural acid mantle.
DERIVED FROM: the fermentation of carbohydrates (such as corn starch, sugar beets, or sugar cane) by lactic acid bacteria, or via chemical synthesis through the hydrocarboxylation of acetaldehyde.
WITHOUT EXCEPTIONS INGREDIENT
VRAI IQ: Lactic acid is one of the most clinically validated, safe active ingredients available. In the early days of cosmetics, it was frequently isolated from sour milk or whey. Today, sustainable biotechnology allows manufacturers to ferment plant sugars using strains like Lactobacillus to create a highly pure, nature-identical L-lactic acid molecule. The Cosmetic Ingredient Review (CIR) panel and global regulatory bodies confirm it is entirely safe and non-toxic for topical use when formulated correctly. This plant-fermented active represents a gold-standard chemical exfoliant that delivers clinical, radiant results while easily passing the most stringent safe beauty standards.
An advanced biocompatible prebiotc sugar that functions as a selective food source for the beneficial bacteria naturally occuring on your skin. By nourishing the "good" bacteria on the epidermis while starving the "bad," it helps prevent inflammation, redness, barrier disruption and work to protect and balance the skins microbiome. By promoting a healthy microbiome, it helps stimulate the release of natural antimicrobial peptides, which defend against environmental stressors. DERIVED FROM: the sugars maltose and sucrose
WITHOUT EXCEPTIONS INGREDIENT
An multifunctional antioxidant ingredient that exfoliates dead skin cells, brightens hyperpigmentation, and protects from environmental stressors and free radical damage. DERIVED FROM: the extraction and purification of phosphorus-rich compounds found naturally in the seeds, hulls, and bran of plant grains, most commonly rice, corn, wheat, or legumes.
WITHOUT EXCEPTIONS INGREDIENT.
VRAI IQ: This intelligent ingredient, when used for its exfoliating benefits, gently dissolves the intercellular glue holding dead skin cells together, promoting a brighter, more even skin tone and reducing hyperpigmentation without the irritation or sun sensitivity often associated with stronger alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs)
A simple monosaccharide, that serves as a humectant and skin-conditioning agent in topical skin care. It pulls moisture into the skin, supports barrier hydration, and acts as a gentle, natural cellular fuel. DERIVED FROM: extraction through the enzymatic or chemical hydrolysis of plant starches such as corn, wheat, rice, potatoes, cassava, or sugarcane.
WITHOUT EXCEPTIONS INGREDIENT
A bio-based skin conditioning agent that provides deep, lasting hydration.
In formulation chemistry, it serves a critical role as a natural antimicrobial agent. It disrupts the cellular activity of pathogenic microflora—specifically targeting molds and bacteria—to ensure the formula remains stable. DERIVED FROM: the sodium salt of levulinic acid
WITHOUT EXCEPTIONS INGREDIENT
A natural preservative and skin conditioning agent used to extend product shelf life by preventing bacterial and fungal growth, while also balancing the skin’s natural pH and soothing irritation. DERIVED FROM anise or fennel.
WITHOUT EXCEPTIONS INGREDIENT
A multifunctional synthetic solvent, humectant, and preservative booster used in advanced skincare formulations to improve product texture, enhance moisture retention, and stabilize active ingredients. It works by creating a smooth, uniform dispersion of active compounds within a serum or cream, delivering a lightweight, clean slip during application without leaving a tacky or heavy residue. In formulation chemistry, it is highly prized for its exceptional antimicrobial properties; it works synergistically with mild preservative systems by disrupting the cell membranes of bacteria and molds, allowing formulators to lower the concentration of traditional preserving agents. Because it is highly stable, non-comedogenic, and has an exceptionally low irritation profile compared to older glycols, it is widely utilized in formulas designed for sensitive skin and eye-area applications. DERIVED FROM oxidising a petroleum-derived compound (hexene) and then adding water (hydration).
WITHOUT EXCEPTIONS INGREDIENT
VRAI IQ: 1,2-Hexanediol is a classic example of a "safe synthetic" that conventional and clean beauty lines rely on for superior formula stability and consumer safety. Although it is petroleum derived, it is highly purified and chemically pure as a raw material when it reaches the cosmetic stage. Unlike ethoxylated ingredients, it carries absolutely zero risk of 1,4-dioxane contamination.
A versatile, multi-tasking humectant, solvent, and antimicrobial booster widely utilized in premier cosmetics for hydration performance. Structurally acting as a moisture-binding agent, it draws hydration into the stratum corneum (the skin's outermost layer) to leave a plump, smooth, and supple finish without any heavy or greasy residue. In formulation chemistry, it plays a role as a solubilizer and texture enhancer, creating a smooth application slip and ensuring that both water- and oil-soluble active ingredients remain evenly blended. It's chemical structure enables it to penetrate the cell walls of common bacteria and molds, acting as an efficient preservative booster that limits reliance on conventional preserving systems. Because it is exceptionally well-tolerated and exhibits a low skin irritation index, it is routinely used in formulas developed for sensitive, reactive skin and delicate eye-area products. DERIVED FROM from renewable, plant-based agricultural by-products—most notably sugarcane bagasse, and corn cobs. It can also be synthetically manufactured from petroleum or produced via biotechnological processes.
WITHOUT EXCEPTIONS INGREDIENT
Used in cosmetics as a preservative and found effective when combined with other preservatives. As a stand-alone, it does not offer broad-spectrum preservative function. DERIVED FROM the neutralization of benzoic acid with sodium hydroxide.
WITHOUT EXCEPTIONS INGREDIENT
VRAI IQ: Controversy exists over whether or not sodium benzoate converts to benzene in the body. This process occurs under either condition: When sodium benzoate is heated with a mixture of sodium hydroxide and calcium oxide, benzene is produced and or when sodium benzoate is in the presence of L-ascorbic acid at levels that create an acidic reaction.
Commonly known as Irish Moss, or Red Algae extract, it serves as a binder, stabilizer. This nutrient dense seaweed deeply hydrates, soothes inflammation, and forms a protective barrier to minimize transepidermal water loss (TEWL). DERIVED FROM: the extraction of water-soluble polysaccharides from harvested red algae (Chondrus crispus) found along the rocky Atlantic coasts, which are washed, extracted in hot water, and purified.
WITHOUT EXCEPTIONS INGREDIENT
VRAI IQ: a deep divide exists regarding carrageenan due to historical ingestive data. When degraded by heat and acids into low molecular weight forms (poligeenan), carrageenan has been linked to gastrointestinal inflammation in food science studies. While topical, high molecular weight cosmetic-grade carrageenan is completely safe, consumers who cross-reference ingredients with food-safety databases frequently flag it as a potential concern. The ingredient intelligence comes down to molecular weight: the cosmetic-grade versions used to create formulas utilize undegraded, high molecular weight carrageenan, which is entirely too large to penetrate past the skin's stratum corneum or enter the bloodstream.
